“Any conscious change is by definition magick.”
In the Northern Hemisphere, as August dissolves into September, we move closer to the harvest season. You don’t receive the harvest through a single act of spontaneous planting, and suddenly, BOOM! A food forest! You spend months germinating, cultivating, pruning, tending, defending, watering, all to reach a bountiful harvest. Sometimes, that bounty takes many seasons of transforming the foundational soil. That is the essence of what my Enochian cards bring you today. You can do magick, if you accept magick’s pace and tending.
First, I asked my cards: “What is the reading about today?”

The themes of this card are transmutations, transformations, a willed change, Magick, and a change in a person’s life as a result of that person’s karma.
I then asked: “What specifically are we talking about?”

This card represents security, safety, joy, conservation, and health. It brings us an essential line of grounding reality: “Any conscious change is by definition magick.”
I call myself “The Magick Artist” not because I use divination tools in my storytelling, but because I use my art as a tool to enact conscious change in the world. Many social media “witches” or “magical thinkers” project a highly deceptive mode of manifestation. They project this idea of “just let it come to you,” as if, for them, magick is being handed everything you want from something else. That’s passive. Our ancestral witches didn’t sit around when a neighborhood girl came by with an ailment. They got up, went into the forest, and started foraging. They got their knees dirty and dug in the earth. They crushed the medicine and mixed the poultice. They put trust in the labor and gifts of the earth. That’s magick.
Oppression is an act of magick. It takes generations of people putting their labor into spreading the idea and enacting violence until it’s normalized. Oppression and discrimination may seem like random curses, but they’re dedicated crafts to keep delusions and systems of power alive.
You want joy, safety, security, health? Honey, it’s time to go after it.
You will not get everything you want instantly. That is not magick’s way. And sometimes you will get it in the way you need, not what you want.
The transmutation energy of AOGD is “a slow gentle heat produces karmic change that can be intelligently directed.” There’s no rushing in this process. There is grounded strategy and wise implementation.
Going after what you want has to be a series of small thoughts, acts, and steps that add up to habits, patterns, and communities. Because no, you can’t do it alone. No one has ever done it alone. That is a capitalist myth. Every “instant fame” is the result of many people’s machinations for power, working together to prop up one individual.
I don’t know if you heard me: NO ONE HAS EVER DONE IT ALONE.
You could be the sole gardener in the yard, but you’re not the sole reason the tomatoes ripened and got sweet. The pollinators facilitated that. The plant’s photosynthesis and sugar processing did that. The ladybugs ate the aphids. The sun fed the plant. The water nourished the plant. The sole gardener works in concert with a devoted team.
What are you cultivating and who is your team?
Today’s questions have a foundational practicality, as that’s what Virgo season is all about: Taking dreams and turning them into magick.
What do you want?
Why do you want it?
When do you want it?
Is what you want aligned with the core of who you are, or is it something you are told to want?
Who is your team to support you in what you want?
Who do you still need?
How can you meet those people?
What thoughts work in opposition to what you want?
What doubts creep in?
Where do those thoughts come from?
What practices can you cultivate to rewire those thoughts?
Who can affirm you?
When will you ask for that affirmation support?
What everyday things in your life support you right now?
What resources do you have access to right now?
How can you express gratitude for what is already present?
What tasks are the most difficult for you? Why do you think that is? Break down the steps of getting what you want. Break it down again. And again. Until they are tiny, achievable tasks.
Which of these difficult tasks require you to extend your capacity, and which require you to extend your collaborators? (Hint: You need both.)
When will you know you are satisfied?
Let me know when you find out.
